Ty Youngblood revolutionized the understanding of elevated vacuum technology in prosthetics in his PhD dissertation titled, "Physiological and Mechanical Effects of Prosthetic Elevated Vacuum Systems in People with Transtibial Amputation." His work was immediately used by the insurance industry towards reimbursement and it stimulated exciting research directions and new technologies.

     Ty joined Abbott Laboratories in Minneapolis after graduation. He was recently promoted to Senior R&D Clinical Engineer. In his new position, Ty develops design validation protocols and simulation models to evaluate structural heart devices.
